BOSTON – Today, the Massachusetts Republican Party, together with the Massachusetts Republican Jewish Committee, a chartered member of the Massachusetts Republican Party, call upon the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation to demand forthwith that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi bring articles of censure against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN05).  Speaker Pelosi must also remove the congresswoman from her posting to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Congresswoman Omar engages in anti-Semitic and anti-Israel rhetoric.  She has said, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”  She has suggested that AIPAC (The American Israel Public Affairs Committee) pays politicians to support Israel.  AIPAC is not a political action committee. Further, Rep. Omar has indicated support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, an effort to prevent other nations from having economic relations with businesses in or associated with Israel. Its goal is crippling and destroying Israel.

Omar has compared Israel to Iran, commenting that she “chuckles” when Israel is upheld as a democracy in the Middle East.  In fact, Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and the only country in the Middle East in which all races, religions, and diversities are treated equally.
