MassGOP Calls Out Senator Cronin for Questionable Campaign Expenditures

August 8, 2024

Boston, MA– State Senator John Cronin (D-Worcester and Middlesex) has made some questionable campaign expenditures over the past two years. According to the Office of Campaign Finance, Cronin has used his campaign funds for dubious purposes. From June 2023 to March 2024, Cronin made four separate payments of $6,000 each, totaling $24,000, to Seskin Realty Trust, where he is a trustee and his law office is located. Additionally, he paid $1,500 to the Fay Club in Fitchburg for membership dues out of his campaign account. These revelations raise more questions than answers. Cronin’s donors and supporters should scrutinize these expenditures, and Cronin should be held accountable.

MassGOP Executive Director John Milligan commented on these expenditures, stating, “It is beyond me why an elected official can brazenly claim that paying $24,000 to a trust, in which he is a trustee, and likely benefits directly from, is a fair way to spend his donor’s dollars. Furthermore, I hope Cronin’s donors are well aware that their hard-earned money, donated in good faith, is being spent on a membership to a private club. If he’s willing to spend his own campaign cash so recklessly and frivolously, I can’t begin to imagine how he views the tax dollars he’s responsible for allocating in the Senate.”
