Massachusetts 2026 Republican Nominating Convention Charges Forward with Unstoppable Momentum
12.10.2025
BOSTON, MA — Early this week, three Republican candidates for governor of Massachusetts made it official. Mike Minogue, Brian Shortsleeve, and Mike Kennealy have each secured a speaking slot at the 2026 Republican Nominating Convention, slated for April 25 at the DCU Center in Worcester.
To secure the slot, each campaign contributed $50,000 to the Republican State Committee. The funds provide the seed capital necessary to mount the convention.
MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale said “The Republican Party is grateful to these three campaigns for stepping up early to ensure a first-rate convention. Given the terrible record of Governor Maura Healey, our party has a solid path to victory in November of 2026. This field of candidates—Mike Minogue, Brian Shortsleeve, and Mike Kennealy—offers real strength. Any one of them would better govern our state.”
Convention Director Wendy Wakeman said she expects the 2026 Convention to be a high-energy celebration of great Republican ideas. “The same tired Democrat ideas are hurting Massachusetts families. The Republican candidates offer a new, better road for our state.”
Up to 5,000 Republican activists, chosen at local caucuses, are expected to participate. Not only will conventioneers choose the party’s endorsed candidates for statewide office, the convention also holds a legal role in determining statewide ballot access.
The convention is held every four years, in the same year the people of Massachusetts choose a governor. In 2022, delegates were treated to inspirational videos, music performances, and energizing speeches from local leaders as well as nationally recognized leaders like Congressman Byron Donalds (R-Florida) and Tom Homan.
“Momentum is building,” said Wakeman. “With a powerhouse lineup of candidates, early engagement across the board, and planning in full swing, I am thrilled to confirm that the 2026 Massachusetts State Convention is on track to be one of the most high-energy, high-impact conventions our Party has seen.”
